Our History

In 1975, H. David Brusman, Jr. founded Vandalia Blacktop Sealers (VBS), manually hauling sealer out of 55-gallon drums for residential and small parking lots. His initial goal was to make enough money for college, not realizing he was laying the foundation for a future business.

In 1981, after graduating from Wright State University during a major recession, David and his wife, Julie, decided to fully commit to VBS as their primary source of income. Despite initial challenges, they poured their time, revenue, and energy into the business.

By the late 80s and 90s, VBS saw steady growth. In 1987, the company was incorporated as Vandalia Blacktop & Sealcoating, Inc., reflecting its expansion into other asphalt-related areas. Since 1998, the company grew steadily through investments in experienced management, personnel, and the latest equipment.

Today, with over 50 employees, the future looks bright. Vandalia Blacktop & Sealcoating, Inc. remains dedicated to providing outstanding customer service and high-quality products.
